    There was no relationship between the degree of activation of pyruvate, Pi dikinase, and adenylate energy charge, or ATP/ADP ratio or ADP level under various light intensities. Only a weak relationship was found between the degree of activation of NADP-malate dehydrogenase and the NADPH/NADP ratio or NADP(H) level with increasing light intensity.   Abstract. Maize opaque2 (o2) mutations are beneficial for endosperm nutritional quality but cause negative pleiotropic effects for reasons that are not fully targets of the bZIP transcriptional regulator encoded by o2 include pdk1 and pdk2 that specify pyruvate phosphate dikinase (PPDK). This enzyme reversibly converts AMP, pyrophosphate, and phosphoenolpyruvate to ATP.

    Pyruvate, Pi dikinase and NADP‐malate dehydrogenase (EC ) were the only enzymes examined which were light activated and increased in activity with increasing light intensity. In the low light grown plants the activity of pyruvate, Pi dikinase closely paralleled the photosynthetic rate measured under different light levels. And so this is kind of this second major use of Acetyl-CoA in the body. And so keep these kind of two major pathways for Acetyl-CoA in mind as we talk about how this step is regulated. Now I should say at this point that the major form of regulation, in this case, is allosteric regulation of the pyruvate dehydrogenase enzyme.
